Our multi-cultural credentials are often touted as “world leading” by politicians and media. We’re certainly an increasingly mixed brew, as anyone returning to a major centre after a gap of some years would notice! New arrivals from China and Indian sub-continent are the most recent countries of origin for mass migration to Australia. These maps show the percent of the population who were born in China in 2016. An additional map for the Sydney region using Census 2006 figures, shows just how rapidly the major centres are changing character.
